THE AN'ER RIVER

Stumbling all the way, dragging bound feet
Of the end of Qing Dynasty and decorating the desolateness
Along the way into absurdity, it was like a necklace
Of grandma shining with doubtful silver light
In my diary whenI was ten
Legends of heroes and bandits
Are two baby nappies fluttering alternatively
On its banks.The red bellyband
Of a young woman was stranded on the scalding sand
Beach along a housand men' s sights
Its said that the An er River will be renamed
As the Gold and Silver River. What’s the difference?
There appear in my dreams
Still the two naked babies
One was once panning sand from water
(Where is he now)
One was once drawing water from sand
(Where is he now)

IN ANOTHER DIRECTION

I see a shoal of fish and a flock of birds
I also see myself between them
Like a tree forgetting itself
Like a banner unable to distinguish the south from the north
More like a fallen leave stupidly imitating
Swimming and flying
I am looking at myself, truly superfluous
In another direction, like a lamp
Unable to illuminate the dark shadow and like a fire
Unable to burn its own mistakes
Between a shoal of fish and a flock of birds
Ah, in short I am a superfluous---man

SANDSTORM

I was behind the window, and you in a car
While he, on a scaffold
I closed the window, and you closed your car
While he closed his mouth and eyes
The television said:
"Oh, the spring has come."

CONDITION

Finally I found such a suitable place
And time to put my shadow
On the road. I wanted to let it replace
Me to demonstrate a long prepared manifesto
It's really crafty, not like me at all!
Unexpectedly it stood up without the slightest error
Just before a car came. It jumped aside
the very moment another car came. And
A third car was speedily rushing over
Yet unexpectedly and miraculously again it fled
Fifty cars in succession could not succeed
How could the rascal so accurately
Betray me the very moment I thought I could succeed
---Yet, what kind of a car
Can make he cry out his painful heart?

HOW MUCH LOVE

CAN BE REGAINED

How much love can be regained? How much pain
Can make us cry out without any hesitation...
On such a day, I try to flee from the past smoke screen
Yet it's too late. I try not being involved
In the following rising wind and surging cloud, yet its' impossible
You know that the passing of time does not lead to our aging
You know that even a grain of dust has its own dream
At the balcony of the 5th floor, more than once I have seen
The afterglows of the setting sun transgressing the vast mountain
Yet they hesitates for a second before they dashes to the ground
Maybe it's the tree and heartbeat that have persuaded them to stay
They stayed, yet as silent as a vase
It seems that there are my unpredictable fate
My thirst and my gratitude
In whose eyes will those lanterns afraid of dark night
Successively become heroes
A man who has forgotten praises is now immersed in his own heart
There the grassis moving when the wind passes
